Who new you could have so much fun with a fucking bucket?
Last night, Dio and I went to see Walk The Line. I've been wanting to see it for ages and so had he. We went to his favorite theater in Skokie and successfully dodged the mania surrounding the release of King Kong.
Well, almost.
Dio had a hankerin' for butteryly delicious popcorn and I wanted to partake in some Sour Patch consumption. So Dio went and got us the KING KONG KOMBO. Rawr!
It consisted of a huge tub of popcorn, a gallon of cola and 5 pieces of King Kong shaped Sour Patchies. Why we were more entralled with that than the movie could only be explained if you knew us. But to break it down: We're dorks.
Not to say the movie was not good. In fact, it was excellent. I didn't see Reese Witherspoon when I watched this movie, she became a completely different person to me. I couldn't see one trace of Elle Woods, no sireee. And Joaquin? He hypnotized me with his crazy eyes and scarred lip. That boy is fiiiine!
But I didn't walk out of there with that feeling of euphoria. When I see a movie I really connect with that touches my soul (as only a few movies have) I walk out of the theater feeling like a different person. I am inspired. My outlook on life is somewhat skewed, usually for the better. I talk a bit differently. I appreciate every minute a bit more. I long to see that type of movie again soon.
King Kong, perhaps?
Those marketing geniuses!
After we ate all the popcorn, Dio asked if I had my camera. "Of course," I replied. He got a mischievous glint in his eye and decided to hang on to his bucket.
Wacky antics ensued in the parking lot. Observe:
Heeeeey! It's King Kongamundo!
Dio is a better actor that Joaquin Phoenix! You actually BELIEVE there's popcorn in that bucket!
Thank me, I spared you the absolute hideousness.
Who's my silly lil' bucket head?!?!?
Not my best angle. But he looks adorable.
Aah, good times.
In other news: I am taking tomorrow off. I am regrettably turning 28 again and I decided I was due a personal day. So I am heading to Indiana tonight for some Christmas shopping with a bit of tax relief. (Chicago has 9% tax, Indiana has 6%). Then sista and I are going to a local Irish pub for a bit of brew.
Then tomorrow, it's back to Chi-town for a massage and then a few of us are going to see Brokeback Mountain. I bet donuts to dollars that movie will be a perspective alterer. (Did that make sense?)
Afterwards, we're going back to my place to get gussied up and about 20 of my compadres and I are having dinner at a local Mexican eatery, were I will be receiving a PERSONALIZED BIRTHDAY SOMBRERO! Ole!
Then we are going to go dance at a new club in my hood. I am pretty darn excited. Having a weekend birthday is all shades of fun! 28 Part 3 is going to take place on a Saturday!
So, have a good one, ya'll. Don't take any wooden nickels!
