Who knew laying around your parent's house all weekend could be so exhausting? The only reason I even got out of bed this morning was because Nature's Alarm Clock (having to pee very badly) was going off.
Hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. Mine was was very merry and bright, aight? I got a memory card for my camera, lots of bath products, jewelry and uh, a USB port, and, um... 12,017 calories.
Sista and I had all sorts of ambitions to go out on Friday and Sunday nights, but when push comes to shove, we are getting up there in years and being jam-packed into a bar with hundreds of older drunkards no longer appeals. So we did some moderate drinking (except Saturday night... whoah!) and enjoyed the pleasures of Tivo.
Saturday night is our annual Christmas Eve party and I have to say, the most fun one in all of my 29 years. Being social, instead of watching A Christmas Story on TBS over and over in the living room actually helped. So did the killer playlist of Christmas tunes I carefully concocted. As did the champagne. A few of Brooke's friends showed. One of mine did as well. And we had ourselves a nice sit down, full of heartfelt emotions and Christmas cheer. And then things get hazy. But I am sure I behaved myself. Right?
I have been in somewhat of a rut lately... which you know if you read this regularly, but things are looking up. My mental state is leaning much more towards the positive side right now.
New year, new start.
H is buying an elliptical machine this week, so 45 minutes on that bad boy 5 times a week will get my weight in check. As for the job search, I am setting up and begin to work on my online portfolio today, and as usual, trolling Craig's List for money-making opportunities. As for the living situation, I talked it out with the roommates and we are definitely moving out in June. H and I will most likely get our own place and that makes me happy. And my love life? That one will take time. I am not rushing into anything, but I am going to take some chances and follow my instincts. I am dead certain that I will be in a much better place by the time 30 rolls around.
So, I really love my friends. I don't have one large group, persay, but rather smaller groups of friends who can get along together or spend some quality alone time with me.
Already, my week has been filling up with fun. Tonight, I am supposed to hang out with a guy I dated three years ago very briefly. He is back in town from Ireland, where he spent the last 3 years working as an architect. That impresses the crap out of me. I am fascinated by architecture. He has to go back there for a few months to finish up a project and then he is moving back here. He introduced me to my favorite restaurant in Chicago, Cafe Iberico and perhaps that's where we will go tonight.
I must spend some time with the NEWLY ENGAGED LL this week. Yes, another one bites the dust, but I am very happy for her. I love that girl and she better pick out flattering bridesmaids dresses, gosh darn it. I also want to fit in some Robbie Cocktail time and maybe a rendezvous with a certain chat buddy.
And of course, the dreaded NYE is not so dreaded this year. H talked me into going to The Palmer House Hilton Annual NYE Bash. Elevation, the U2 cover band is playing and it is quite the fancy affair. I get to bust out my ten year high school reunion BCBG dress once again. Hooray! I love getting dressed up! I am going with my super-fun-single girls and I already know of a few fun acquaintances that will be in attendance. So for once, I am actually looking forward to a NYE and for what we are paying, it better be fucking fun as fuck, motherfucker.
I want to give a shout out to my girl, Jo. She is going through a rough time right now that is all too familiar to Miss Bethany. We don't hang out all too often, but I am hoping that will change. She has already gotten me excited about volunteering and going to church. I think I need to take on a few new things in my life in order to become a more well-rounded person. And these bleary winter months are just the time to do it.
Guess I wasn't the only one drunk over the weekend. Check this out.
Well, I am off to heat up some Chef Boyardee Mini Raviolis, so take care, stay safe and bundle up!
